So far you’ve written your 10 x 10 matrix which has likely given you amazing clarity.
Then you’ve written your Blueprint for your business . . . a Blueprint that combines your delivery and results blueprint and your financial blueprint.
You’ve also completed about five writing lessons.
You’ve written a few pages in an imaginary doc, based on your 10 x 10 matrix.
And yesterday you began recording from your 10 x 10 matrix
You probably have a higher level of clarity not just about your business, but about the financial model and how it will lead you to make a full time income teaching what you love.
You’ll also notice that each day we work on a few different things.
And that’s what I’d like to dig into today.
You see, so often entrepreneurs – like you and me both – are innovative.
We are ideas people. We are very hard workers. We dig in and focus on one thing until it’s done (or until we run out of creative steam).
And those are all good traits.
Without our ability to innovate, to work hard for ourselves, to accomplish goals, we couldn’t be entrepreneurs. We would be better fit to just let someone else tell us what to do.
But . . . sometimes our innovative, driving, focused personality works against us.
And here’s why:
A REAL business has multiple parts:
- Prospecting (finding new customers)
- Delivery of the Product
- Your Website
- the Money
- the Results
- your Writing Ability (without which you probably can’t do any of the above profitably)
- and then of course: accounting, paying taxes, staying organized, keeping your computer free of viruses, all those little things)
Your REAL business has many, many parts.
And although the innovative, creative, (possibly impulsive), action-taking parts of your business make you unique and without which, you wouldn’t have a business – those parts alone don’t make your business a REAL business.
Without the daily drudgery your innovative, life-changing, hard-working, creative business is just a dream, a figment of your imagination.
You must do ALL the parts of your business to be successful.
And what happens with many online entrepreneurs is that they tend to spend 3 months creating a product or 3 months writing a sales letter or 3 months building their website, or 3 months driving traffic, and leave everything else alone.
And when they emerge from their product-creation hiatus, or their sales – letter -writing bunker, or their three month website- building cave – they don’t know what the rest of the business looks like.
It’s like they’ve been working on some isolated project.
Has that ever happened to you?
You get so involved in one part of your business that the rest of your business never gets built out?
The solution to that is working on all the parts of your business each day, in segmented sessions.
You’ll notice you’ve already been doing that, the last six days in this program.
Each day:
–> You’ve studied a critical lesson then taken a related action: intro questions, 10 x 10 matrix, your delivery blueprint, your financial blueprint
–> You’ve written a page in your imaginary doc (these pages can eventually become a real book, an eBook, or articles, they are just content for now) and they can become the roots of your daily email as well, which will come soon
–> You’ve done a writing lesson
And in doing those three things each day, you are cementing a pattern of working on multiple things each day.
In the long run, by the time you finish this program, you’ll be doing about six things each day, and doing those things won’t feel overwhelming or like you can’t switch tasks in the middle of the day.
They’ll feel natural, because that’s what this program is leading you to, one gentle step at a time.
And it’s critically important that you don’t fall back into the old way of doing things, which is completely submerging yourself into one part of your business for a full day, or for days at a time.
Now, over the course of the next few days, we are going to transition from as much of this “introductory” talk in each lesson to you doing a bit more sections of homework.
The key reason is that you are going to start creating your first product.
I also want to address this issue of “falling behind”
There is no exact schedule for how long it should take you to complete these six weeks of lessons.
Some people who are able to work full time on this, may do all six weeks in four week.
Other people might take 18 months.
Both of which are fine
The key is that YOU take each lesson in the order in which it comes, and don’t go to the next lesson until the prior one is completed.
And don’t jump ship.
Perhaps that’s what’s happened in the past.
You’ve gotten behind in the work or the lessons or the instructions in another coaching program.
You got discouraged and quit.
And perhaps you’ve done this over and over again.
So that three years later, the only thing you have to show for your three years of hard work online is a bunch of failed programs and half-started products and projects.
All that can change with this program.
This program works.
It’s how I personally run my full time business.
Every step of this program is proven and tested and works.
But only if you don’t jump ship.
Only if you plow through each lesson completely, keeping the end-goal in mind.
You must stay the steady route and complete each step.
Otherwise, you’ll fall victim to the same trap you’ve fallen into time and time again, and that others have as well.
The difference is that this time, you know the difference.
You know why you’ve quit, failed, stalled out, whatever.
And you can commit to not letting that happen again!
Tomorrow we start creating your first product!
Lesson 6: part 2: 10 x 10 matrix lesson:
write a topic in your 10 x 10 matrix
then record those words as a video for YouTube.
Here’s a reminder on how:
write an outline for your article (the first sentence from each paragraph)
you can either put that all on one Word or Pages page and that is the background for your video
OR you can use PowerPoint or keynote and create a slide for each of the first sentences from each paragraph
Then read aloud your article and record it using your video recording software
then go to YouTube and upload your recording
Lesson 6: part 3: writing lesson:
At this point, you should be feeling really comfortable asking “probing” questions.
These questions are designed to “probe into” the prospects problems and begin to get “under their skin” so they remember how much of a problem their challenge is in their life.
And next week, we are going to start working on how you position yourself as the expert from whom they can get the advice they need to solve their problem.
But before we move into next week, I want to know that you are completely comfortable asking these probing questions.
So…I’d like you to choose a related niche (not yours) and create a list of 15 questions that are digging into their problem using the formula I have taught you this week.
By now you should be feeling like asking these questions is second nature, and requires hardly any thought at all.
If not, I suggest you take a few minutes each day to write a new list of these.
I won’t be giving you these questions as homework assignments as much after today, but if you aren’t feeling comfortable asking them, you need more practice.
Until next time
